Top 3 Color & Décor Trends We’ll Be Seeing Everywhere in 2027

The next wave of event design is warm, layered and deeply personal. Here are five emerging looks we expect to shape weddings, galas and corporate celebrations in 2027—and how to make each one feel timeless.

Written by Heather Radtke

For the past several years, event design has leaned heavily toward soft neutrals and pared-back greenery. Those looks are not disappearing, but they are evolving. In 2027, I expect to see clients embracing more personality: nuanced color, interesting texture, atmospheric lighting and details that make a room feel intentionally designed rather than simply decorated.

The best part? A trend does not have to take over your entire event. A beautiful linen, a statement bar, a dramatic ceremony backdrop or even a fresh tabletop palette can make a celebration feel current while still reflecting your own style.

1. The New Romance: Merlot, Plum & Mocha

Moody palettes are becoming softer and more dimensional. Instead of pairing burgundy with stark black, 2027 will bring tonal layers of wine, plum, chocolate and warm taupe. The result is romantic, dramatic and surprisingly inviting.

This look is all about texture: velvet linens, gathered fabric, tinted glassware, dark fruit, sculptural florals and plenty of candlelight. Mixing in cognac, wood or aged brass keeps the deeper colors from feeling heavy.

How I would use it at Baldoria: A candle-filled ceremony, merlot napkins, plum-and-blush florals and a warm, layered lounge in the Atrium for cocktails.

2. Sun-Washed Color: Butter Yellow & Porcelain Blue

After years of barely-there color, joyful combinations are making a return. Butter yellow and porcelain blue feel sunny, fresh and a little nostalgic, while a touch of cobalt gives the palette an editorial edge.

Use this look through striped or patterned linens, clusters of bud vases, playful stationery and unexpected floral combinations. Blue-and-white ceramics, yellow taper candles and citrus accents can make the design feel collected and European rather than themed.

How I would use it at Baldoria: A bright garden ceremony flowing into blue-and-cream tabletop details, yellow florals and a bold cobalt seating chart or bar installation.

3. Layered Greens & Botanical Texture

Sage has been a favorite for years, but the next version is richer and less predictable. Layering several greens—from smoky jade to olive and soft chartreuse—creates depth while still reading as a natural neutral.

The décor shift is equally important. Rather than greenery used only as filler, expect botanical elements to become architectural: overhead foliage, planted aisles, living backdrops and organic arrangements that appear to grow through the room. Stone, linen and handmade paper keep the look grounded.

How I would use it at Baldoria:A lush garden entrance, tonal green linens and menus, low botanical centerpieces and soft lighting that carries the outdoor feeling into the ballroom.
